Deep Desert Base structure consists of 2 main elements which are connected:

First, the central supply unit (csu), which is an outpost of life in the taklamakan. A well draws for cool underground water, which is used for water supply and to cool the living units during daytime. Solar panels collect energy, which is used for the heating at cool nights.

Secondly, "feet" are assembled in the dunes to hold the living units. They are connected with the csu by a network of tubes which provide water and energy.

The csu is a temporary structure errected around a well. It is shaped like a shifting sand dune with its closed side facing the winds main direction. It is a framework of aluminium tubes covered with a membrane. Inside this "tent" there are tanks for the water, cooling units for food, supply and emergency shelter. Batteries provide solar energy for pumps and climate control. A helicopter is used to transport the living units, material and passengers.
