The deep desert sailing unit (dsu)'s concept is functionalty. It can be easily transported to vast locations all around the globe. With only a few modifications it can function in arid regions like the takla makan or hostile en- vironments like the arctic.

Its main element is an aerodynamic hull made out of fiberglass. It is used as a shield against wind, because the dsu is able to turn, so that the hull always faces the wind. When beeing transported, the hull serves as a container.

The backside of the dsu is covered by a high-performance membrane, which can be opened and closed depending on the weather conditions.
